Willow Hill Farm
Summer Camp
Willow Hill Farm specializes in Dressage and Eventing. We are members of the United States Dressage Federation and the United States Eventing Association. Gerald & Julie Edwards own and operate Willow Hill Farm along with daughter Tara and her husband Fran Bola. The combined family specialties in equine sports and farm management work together to create a well rounded educational experience for our students. Julie competes at the Prix St Georges level in Dressage and is a National Examiner for the United States Pony Club. Tara events at the Advanced Level and is a Pony Club graduate B. Her cross country clinics draw students from all over New England. Another daughter, Tawn, brings campers from her riding school in Georgia and spends half of the summer teaching and riding. Julie, Tara, and Tawn are certified instructors with the American Riding Instructors Association.
We are part of a 6 million acre park, consisting of unspoiled mountain beauty. The air is fresh and clear. Sparkling underground springs provide our drinking water. Campers live in our spacious farm house and in nice nearby cabins. They enjoy family-style meals utilizing our resources: fresh eggs; vegetables; milk and chickens.
Come to Willow Hill Farm and enjoy the family atmosphere of our working farm.
Why Willow Hill Farm Camp?
- Horse/Child ratio of 50 to 36. (Compare this to other camps!)
- Experienced, certified instructors, competent in jumping and dressage.
- Small classes of 6 or less, family atmosphere on a working family farm.
- Beautiful rugged mountain terrain. The finest riding country to be found.
- Discipline is rarely a problem; campers are too happy and tired to disregard the rules or cause problems.
- Exposure to many farm animals including goats, chickens, horses, rabbits, cats and dogs, all of which play a role on a working farm.
- Organic garden that contributes to healthy meals.
Our equestrian program offers riding twice daily. Days are filled with horse activities geared towards developing the knowledgeable horseman. All have the opportunity to improve riding skills, stable safety, grooming, saddling, feeding and training horses. Our program is based on the goals and ideals of the United States Pony Club. Instruction is given in dressage, cross-country and stadium jumping. A protective hardhat is required at all times when mounted. Instruction twice daily in small groups insures rapid progress. Each child has her/his very own horse to groom and ride exclusively. It is a very special partnership in which both thrive and learn quickly. Our horses are among the happiest, for they are not confused by the directions of all kinds and styles of riders. They are more spirited and of a higher quality than horses that are ridden by more than one rider daily.
